Finally made a much-needed upgrade to Tusami's reference sheet!
For those of you who have followed me since my

Tusami account, you'll know that she used to not be just a character but my actual fursona. She's been around since about 2003 and I created her in 6th grade. She's gone though a lot of changes over time, at one point she even started out as a male, red dragon that could transform into a human form. Well now she has been completely revamped and brought back to life!
And for the really brave ones, you can compare this one to her hideously old reference sheet from back in 2006:
Now to talk a little about the design itself, I was inspired to draw this after watching
How To Train Your Dragon, hurrr. I decided to give her a much larger head, hands, and feet to better fit the proportions of a smaller dragon. The head is meant to be much more like a monitor lizards- wider/flatter and with a much shorter muzzle than before. I also changed her wing design to match this awesome kite I saw in a display window this summer; I took a photo of the kite and knew I'd use it for something one day... cuz I'm weird like that. Anyways the kite was airplane-dragon-bird-like and resembles the shape of top view of Tusami quite well- particularly with the addition of the back "finger" attached to her tail. I also made her underbelly marking cover her bottom jaw. Otherwise she's the same old lovable dragoness she always was! I'm particularly happy with that eye, it's actually the first photo-realism eye I've ever truly done. Wat. Also struggling with the flame was crazy but I got the result I wanted out of it and probably won't ever be able to duplicate again |D
