Description
So this is a first for me- static jaw, exaggerated proportions, extra cuteness... what is this madness!?
I have always been an advocate of more realism in costumes (not that I've gotten around to attempting one myself yet), but undoubtedly I need to expand my portfolio and give a little bit of everything a try. Toony suits are very popular, not to mention adorable, if done right. I find that the most well-known builder's work is instantly recognizable... so I hope I'll be able to develop a unique style too and this is my first step towards that. What do you think?
If you ever commission me for toony animals, as I have no current examples other than Pokémon, this is what you can expect to receive since I tend to stay extremely close to my concept art.
-------------
I've designed this primarily because I wanted a costume that would be more versatile- I don't have to worry as much about vision or annoying moving jaws, there's even enough room for a fan. I can take it to almost any event and won't scare off little ones (as realistic suits tend to do). Plus I get to be my awesome German shepherd self! There's nothing I dream of more than owning a realistic Riley, but I don't feel I've got the experience or skills to do her justice quite yet and have been putting off the challenge of creating my fursona for years and years. This style costume, however, I can totally manage! And DO plan to do in the future. I'm inspired now after drawing this.
However, I do no currently know WHEN I'll get around to building her. I'll be sure to let you know once I know. Finally I have an answer to all the people who constantly ask "Are you ever going to make a Riley suit?"
YES I AM. TAKE THAT!
