Group Tutorial: Submitting Art by CanineHybrid Group Tutorial: Submitting Art by CanineHybrid
Group permission resetting issue has now been resolved! [link]

I was planning this to only take an hour...

Then I got carried away with the design.

So 5 hours later and I'm even more behind on finals homework. But that's alright. I'll just not go to sleep tonight :>

Here is my contribution to the new deviantART groups! As the proud founder of my own little group #PokemonCrafts, the question I get asked the most is how one is to go about submitting art to the gallery. Therefore I have provided my members, and the thousands of members across other groups, the ultimate tutorial on how submissions work.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please let me know!

Group owners: You are free to use this tutorial, simply submit this deviation into your group gallery. I'll accept it as quickly as I can. Otherwise you can link directly to it, I'd prefer if you didn't copy or modify my work. Thank you!

Is it possible for me, as a co-founder of the group, to remove someone's deviation from the group entirely, and not just from a folder? Or does removing it from the folder remove it from the entire gallery, too? I'm trying to get rid of adoptables that are closed in a group I'm a mod for. Do I need the OP to remove it themselves?

I deleted a folder in my group thinking that I didn't need it, when apparently I did. Now whenever my members try and submit a picture, it won't let them. I went into the admin panel and tried to fix it, but I couldn't figure out what to do. I as a Founder can submit, but no one else can. When I was in the admin panel, all I could find was if the pictures needed a vote to be in the group and how many pictures they can submit. I can't find out how to make the other folders available to my members.
Help?

I made a new group and my sister can only suggest favs! There isn't even a contribute art button and I set up the admin area!

Sorry to bother you, but I made a new Group and someone is having trouble submitting. They say that they can only submit to the Featured folder and not the others. How do I fix this?

That is a setting you need to change in your admin panel. By default when you make a new folder,  it is locked for submissions. You need to enable submissions to that folder for each individual member class that you want to grant submission access to (the classes are likely non-member, member, contributor, co-founder, and founder - who all have separate permissions).

Navigate to your Admin panel, then click "Manage Members" on the top left. All your member classes ill be listen in the left hand column, and your permissions grated to those member classes are listed in the right hand side. Scroll down to the gallery section and click "show all folders". There you will be able to change the permissions for each individual folder.

Hope that helps! :aww:

I submitted artwork to a group a few days ago which was accepted soon after. However, I never found it in the actual gallery, how is that possible? I am not a member of the group, is that why? It did allow me to submit art without problems though, which is why I'm confused...

Thanks in advance for your answer =)

Perhaps the folder filled up so quickly that you couldn't find it?

Hehe, no, only 2 or 3 new pictures have been added ever since I submitted mine. So strange.

Unless it's an open group. usually the first requirement is that you have to be a member of said group (but sometimes you may need the "contributor" memeber status). The second requirement is that submissions to the group need to be unlocked by the admins- which is turned off by default when they make a group or add folders to it. You may need to contact the specific group for help on contributing to their group or let them know you can't submit art.

Likely, your admins haven't given the contributors permission to submit art into the gallery because it's turned off by default. I would be sure to note them about double-checking the settings and know that this needs to be done for each folder they will allow art to be submitted to.

Ah, DA has changed a few things since my tutorial. If you click the large submit button on the group's main page, it will automatically assume you want to upload a brand new picture for some reason.

Instead, try an alternative method like my tutorial shows- go into the group's gallery itself and click the "contribute art" button in the upper right and select "contribute existing deviation"

(And for extra tidbits, if you have further issues with this: You may need to be a member of the group and only certain folders may be open to submission, so if you do not see this button inside the gallery or a plus button on any of the folders, you might need to have permission to post into that group and might have to ask them to grant you permission or ask the group itself how they accept submissions into their gallery. Or check the groups rules if they have any posted)

Hope that helps!

If your picture has been submitted and has been accepted into a group, go to your deviation's page- there's a list of groups it is included in on the right-hand side. Hover over the group and a little pencil icon appears. Click it to remove the image from the group.

If you submitted a picture and it has not been accepted into the group yet, it will appear in the "correspondence" section of your messages. You can choose to withdraw the image from there. But if you already deleted this message from your inbox, I'm fairly sure you cannot do anything about it until it is either accepted, denied, or expired by the group.

The group you are submitting your art to has settings on it that require one of the admins in their group to take a look at your submission and decide whether or not they want to include your picture in the group's gallery. That's why you have to wait for approval.

Some groups who do not have this setting turned on and instead accept artwork automatically and you'll get a green checkmark right away.

What you need to do is submit your artwork to the group gallery again, then you leave it alone. It has been submitted to the group's submissions inbox and is waiting in line with all the other artwork people have submitted to be reviewed. Eventually the admins of the group will get to your picture and choose to either accept and add your art to the gallery or they will decline and it will not be added. If it is, you'll see a green checkmark. If it was not you'll see a red X.

When you submit your artwork, the link that says "withdraw" is for you to remove the request for your art, just in case you changed your mind about adding that picture to that group's gallery. You can choose to withdraw/remove it from the group at any time. If you want your picture to have a chance at being added to the gallery though, do not click this button, or the big red X appears telling you that it will not be submitted to the group.

The comments link is for you to attach a message to your artwork request that the group admins can read. They may also add comments back.

Hope that helps! :)
